FAQ

Are you an organic bakery? 


No. We use organic ingredients whenever possible and source the majority of our ingredients locally. 
 

Do you use artificial colors or flavors?


No. We use only dog-safe natural coloring and spices. Some of our natural colorings are turmeric, beetroot, activated charcoal, spirulina, and other vegetable juices. 
 

Do you use preservatives?


No. We do not add any preservatives to our products. Keep in mind because we only use fresh ingredients and never use preservatives, our products have a shorter shelf-life than standard store-bought dog treats.
 

Are your products grain-free?


Some of our products are grain-free, see product descriptions. All of our products are gluten-free, soy-free, and corn-free. Many of our products are made with a blend of oat and rice flours. 


What is the shelf-life of your products?


It depends. You will see an “eat or refrigerate by” date on all of our products. All of our treats are either dried in the oven or dehydrated. Most of our treats last for 4-6 weeks at room temperature. If you plan on keeping the treats longer than a month, we recommend that you keep them in the fridge (they last about 3 months) or freezer (they last about 6-9 months). 
 

Are your products safe for human consumption?


Yes! All of our products are safe for human consumption. We use only the best human-grade ingredients in our gourmet treats. Keep in mind that we do not add sugar or other flavorings that humans are used to in their baked goods. That said, we would never judge you if you took a cheeky little bite! 
 

Can I call The Better Barkery?


We are a very small operation, and often work irregular hours, so we do not have a phone line at this time. Please e-mail us – thebetterbarkery@gmail.com and you will have your questions answered as soon as possible. 
 

Do you have a storefront?


We do not have a brick and mortar storefront at this time. We are an online business.  


My Order has not arrived - Can you help?

Does The Better Barkery deliver? 

 

YES! Mail Order items are shipped out nationwide via standard 2-3 day shipping.
 

Custom Cakes can be delivered to addresses in Portland, Oregon or the greater or Portland area. Please e-mail for a quote on delivery (pricing depends on the distance the cake needs to travel). 


What do you charge for shipping, and what is the time-frame of shipping?


We charge a standard $8 shipping fee on all orders under $45. Shipping is free on all orders of $45+. 
Mail Order items are shipped out nationwide via standard 2-3 day shipping.

How do I order a custom cake? 


Please click on the “Custom Cakes” tab on the website: thebetterbarkery.com and fill out the form or e-mail thebetterbarkery@gmail.com  with your specifications and any questions. 


When should I order my cake?


We recommend that you order a cake at least one week (7 days) before the date that you want the cake. 


What is the cancellation policy on custom cake orders?


4 days’ notice is required for a full refund. It may be possible to reschedule the order with 48 hours’ notice, depending on the perishable ingredients we have purchased for the cake. 
 

Can I return products? 


Due to the perishable nature of our products, we cannot accept returns unless they arrive damaged or defective, or if the product received is not the product ordered. Please contact us if you have any problems with your order and we can sort out a solution! thebetterbarkery@gmail.com 
 

Can I cancel an order or exchange a product?


We do not accept cancellations or exchanges. Due to the perishable nature of the product, and because everything is made to order in small batches, we cannot accept cancellations.
